The MELLPI Pro is the monitoring and evaluation mechanism for the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition at the local level. This year, the RNET several LGUs in the region to evaluate their respective implementation and management of nutrition programs in 2022.

One of the highlights of the event was the fiercely competitive series of oral and poster research competitions that showcased exceptional research capabilities within the nation’s academic and medical sectors.

EVHRDC Conducts Midyear Assessment Amidst Busy Preparations for 16th PNHRS Tacloban City, July 31, 2023

The Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (EVHRDC) demonstrated its unwavering commitment to excellence by conducting the 2016 Midyear Assessment on July 31, 2023. Despite the hustle and bustle of preparations for the upcoming 16th Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Week, the EVHRDC found time to evaluate its progress and set the course for further achievements at Hotel Alejandro, Tacloban City.
Presided over by the Regional Director of the Department of Health Region 8, and Chair of EVHRDC ExeCom, Dr. Exuperia B. Sabalberino, the assessment covered essential aspects of the consortium’s activities. The agenda featured comprehensive presentations and updates from various committees, each contributing vital contributions to the advancement of health research and development in the region.
The midyear assessment commenced with an Accomplishment Report for the 1st Semester presented by Ms. Jean Gay O. Ragub, the EVHRDC Coordinator. This report highlighted the consortium’s achievements during the initial months of the year, showcasing the progress made towards fulfilling its objectives.
The assessment further delved into the utilization of funds for the year 2023, providing insights into how financial resources are allocated and utilized for the various health research initiatives. Ms. Leslie Joy L. Calvo, from the EVHRDC Secretariat, presented updates on the EVHRDC-PCHRD (IDD) and EVHRDC-DOH funds, while Mr. Marko Jaise P. Perpinan, also from the EVHRDC Secretariat, discussed updates on EVHRDC-GIA funds.
Moreover, the meeting witnessed the presentation of committee updates, where each committee chair shared the progress and developments in their respective areas. Ms. Josephine L. Hipe presented the updates for Structure, Organization, Monitoring, and Evaluation Committee, Dr. Sherrie Ann Cananua-Labid for the Research Utilization Committee, Dr. Jane R. Borrinaga for the Ethics Review Committee, Dr. Virgilio E. Sabalo for the Capacity Building Committee, and Mr. Leonido P. Olobia for the Research Management Committee.
The event culminated with closing remarks from Engr. Ernesto M. Granada, the Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology Region 8, and Co-Chair of EVHRDC ExeCom. His encouraging words reiterated the consortium’s dedication to promoting research excellence and its vital role in shaping the health landscape of Eastern Visayas.
The EVHRDC continues to stride forward, leveraging its expertise and collaboration to make significant contributions to health research and development. As the consortium prepares for the highly-anticipated 16th PNHRS Week on August 8-11, 2023, the midyear assessment stands as a testament to its enduring pursuit of excellence and innovation.

BiPSU School of Nursing and Health Sciences Celebrates Outstanding Results in Nurse Licensure Examination

Biliran Province State University’s (BiPSU) - School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS) is beaming with pride as 45 of its graduates from the Class of 2022 achieved a remarkable feat in the recently concluded Nurse Licensure Examination (NLE) held on May 28 and 29, 2023. All 45 takers successfully passed the examination, garnering a remarkable 100% passing rate.

BiPSU-SNHS, affiliated with the Eastern Visayas Medical Center as its base hospital, has consistently produced competent and highly skilled nursing professionals. This achievement further solidifies its reputation as a regional premier nursing institution.

RDC VIII-SDC Endorses Replacement Municipalities for the Philippine Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP)

Consistent with the Eastern Visayas Regional Development Plan (EV-RDP) 2023-2028’s commitment to boost health and nutrition in the region, as well as the region’s commitment to attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Regional Development Council (RDC) VIII endorsed the Philippine Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP) through RDC VIII Resolution 71, s2021, to the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) – Investment Coordination Committee-Cabinet Committee (ICC-CC). The NEDA-ICC-CC approved the PMNP for funding through the Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) on 22 November 2021. The PMNP was officially launched on 29 March 2023 at the national level.
