
PALO, LEYTE – PAHIMOSAN Interlocal Health Zone composed of the Municipalities of Paranas, Hinabangan, Motiong and San Jose de Buan all in Samar Province conducted an orientation on Nutrition Program Management on 19-21 November 2019 at Kirigtaan Hall, Paranas, Samar.
The 3-day orientation was facilitated in by the National Nutrition Council 8 with RNPC Catalino P. Dotollo Jr. and NOIII Nino Archie Labordo as the resource persons. The main aim of the activity was to give the Municipal Nutrition Committee members the knowledge skills and attitude on nutrition program management and to present the enhanced local nutrition action plan.

PALO, LEYTE - A total of about 120 local government units in Eastern Visayas is now equipped with the knowledge and skills on how to effectively integrate nutrition of Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) programs and projects in the updating of Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP), Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) and the Local Development Investment Program (LDIP) Fiscal Year 2020-2022.

Members and representatives of the PNHRS Research Utilization Committee from the 17 regional health research and development consortia participated in the 13th Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Week pre-conference session, “Campaigning towards AIDS-free Society,” held last 13 August 2019 in Cagayan de Oro City.
Highlights of the morning session are discussions which aims to raise awareness on the growing HIV/AIDS concern in the country by developing effective information campaigns. Three notable speakers were invited to discuss HIV/AIDS research, share experiences in handling patients with HIV, and lecture on the skills and techniques in developing information campaigns.

The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) has again awarded the prestigious TanglawAward to the Visayas State University as the country’s Most Outstanding Research Institution for 2019.
VSU will be endowed a 2-million peso grant for ‘station development, capability building, and upgrading of facilities’ and a trophy.

Palo, Leyte - A more strengthened nutrition program implementation and policy advocacy is seen to effect on the implementation of this new assessment tool, DMO Alma Bernardo of Eastern Samar expressed during the one day orientation of the Monitoring and Evaluation on Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro on May 7, 2019 at the COA Training Center, Government Center, Palo, Leyte.
The last batch of participants to be oriented with the new protocol are the Department of Health (DOH) Development Management Officers which function include lobbying of national nutrition and health-related policies and provide technical assistance to the local government units in terms of health planning, health program/project management, health facilities improvement, health emergency management and reporting.
