Tacloban City, Leyte - Five out of the nine-member institutions of the EVHRDC- Research Information Council convened last March 1, 2018 at the Conference Room of the Department of Science and Technology, Candahug, Palo, Leyte. The meeting, presided by its chair, Mr. Willard N. Riveral of Naval State University, presented the activities and schedules of the CY 2018 Work and Financial Plan of the committee. It planned out activities for the dissemination of the EVHRDC Manual of Operations and the conduct of the 2018 Regional Health Research Symposium. Moreover, strategies to sustain the submission of news articles in the EVHRDC website and the functions of the committee were also revisited and deliberated.

Eastern Samar, March 1, 2018 - The College of Nursing of the Eastern Samar State University-Main Campus conducted its 3rd Health Research In-House Review last February 28, 2018 at the College’ Audio Visual Room.

The Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium hand in the 2nd release (30%) financial assistance amounting to Php 115, 569.60 from DOST-PCHRD. The total project cost of the research is Php 500, 000.00 and the amount of Php 385, 232.00 is from DOST-PCHRD; the initial release was in CY 2017, but due to delay in project representation, the second release was done this February 2018. The final release (20%) will be upon submission of final reports of the Principal Investigator.

Tacloban City, February 15, 2018 – Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) in collaboration with the EVHRDC, conducts a two- day activity on “Capacity Enhancement on Health Research in Disaster Risk Reduction Management” (Phase I - Orientation to Concepts and Principles) at Hotel XYZ, Tacloban City last February 13-14, 2018. The Resource Persons tapped by PCHRD are Dr. Ofelia P. Saniel, Dr. Ophelia Mendoza, Dr. Teodoro Herbosa, Dr. Dinah Nadera and Dr. Miguel Dorotan.

Tacloban City, February 2, 2018 - The National Nutrition Survey (NNS) is a comprehensive survey conducted every five years by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), since 1978 and the latest was year 2013. In-between the five-year period, the updating survey of Nutritional Status of Children and other Population Groups, is conducted every 2 to 3 years to rapidly assess the nutrition situation of Filipinos.
