The Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (EVHRDC) conducted a Research Proposal Enhancement Workshop on 8-9 July 2021 via Zoom.
During the two-day workshop, researchers were partnered with a mentor who helped enhance their proposals. Other mentors assigned on the overall methods and statistical aspects of the proposals moved from one breakout room to another providing one-on-one coaching and mentoring.
Day 1 of the workshop focused on the review and refinement of the statement of the research question or problem, objectives of the study, significance of the study, and review of related literature; while day 2 focused on the conceptual framework, methodology, limitations of the study and LIB.

To support the national vaccination drive of the government, the Department of Education (DepEd) launched Vacc2School: Ligtas na Bakuna, Para sa Balik-Eskwela! campaign for its teaching and non-teaching personnel.
Vacc2School campaign aims to inform, educate, and engage the Department’s stakeholders in promoting the vaccination drive and other related policies to mitigate COVID-19. The campaign was also contextualized to support the BIDA Solusyon Plus sa COVID-19 campaign of the Department of Health (DOH) in the education sector.

On June 1-4, 2021, a 4-day training entitled The Basic Research Methods Training was conducted via Zoom attended and conducted by the member institutions of Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium. It aims to provide basic knowledge and skills in health research methodologies to researchers. Furthermore, it aims to generate more research project proposals aligned with the 2017-2022 Regional Unified Health Research Agenda (RUHRA).
On its first day, the training kicked off with a prayer and the singing of the National Anthem lead by Ms. April Rose Amor, an EVHRDC staff. Then everyone was welcomed with the opening speech from the OIC Regional Director of DOH-EV CHD, Dr. Exuperia B. Sabalberino. After which, Dr. Virgilio Sabalo, the EVHRDC CBC Chair explained the need for this training while Mr. Raymond Campo, an EVHRDC Staff, presented the DOST 6Ps and the updated 2017-2022 RUHRA. The training then commenced with the sequence: Engr. Michael Manguerra from De La Salle University talked about the opportunities and challenges of Biomedical Engineering, Mr. Leonido Olobia presented the sub-module entitled “Overview of the Reasearch Process” which tackled about the characteristics of the research process, and Dr. Willard N. Riveral from Biliran Province State University presented the sub-module entitled “Defining the Research Problem” after lunch break. At 2:30 in the afternoon, the Question and Answer session took place before Workshop 1 and day 1 of the training ended by 5pm.

TACLOBAN CITY, May 20 (PIA) – The Department of Health - Eastern Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-EV CHD) is encouraging all HIV-AIDS patients to submit themselves for screening, so as to be treated and avoid further transmission.
In an interview with the DOH Regional Surveillance Nurse and Program Manager for HIV-AIDS, Boyd Roderick Cerro, during the Suruswerte ha PIA hosted by PIA 8 Regional Director Olive Tiu, it was learned that there are at least 1,214 diagnosed HIV-AIDS cases in the Eastern Visayas region as of February 10, 2021.

Researchers from the different member institutions of the Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (EVHRDC), were briefed about the procedures and requirements for submission of health research proposals during the Call for Proposals held last April 30, 2021, via zoom.
Organized by the said consortium, the activity was aimed at promoting health research and likewise encourage interested researchers to submit capsule proposals for possible funding.
