Villaba, Leyte, August 19 (PIA) – With the need to address the health needs of the majority of people in the Eastern Visayas region particularly in far-flung barangays, the Department of Health (DOH) has extended the services of the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center or EVRMC through the opening of the Villaba Polyclinic at Barangay Cabungahan in Villaba, Leyte.
In a groundbraking ceremony led by the DOH Director, Dr. Minerva Molon and EVRMC Chief, Dr. Salvador Evardone held August 17 at the said barangay, it was learned that the 25 million worth polyclinic which will be funded by the Department of Health, is an extended facility of the EVRMC.

TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte, August 8 (PIA) – As it recently marked the “Dengue Awareness” month, the Department of Health (DOH) in Eastern Visayas (EV) once more urged the public to always observe “Four S”(4S) strategy in order to stamp out “Dengue” or its possible outbreak.
The “4S strategy” is still proven the best way to prevent Dengue. It stands for Search and destroy mosquito breeding places; Seek early consultation whenever symptoms are observed; do Self-protective measures like wearing pajamas and long-sleeved shirts; and, Say no to indiscriminate fogging.

Admitting he is more on personnel and operational management than a clinician, Doctor Salvador Evardone assumed recently as the 10th hospital chief of the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center (EVRMC) since”Yolanda”.
Prior to this, he was the chief of the Eastern Samar Provincial Hospital (ESPH) for 14 years, which gave him a rich experience in running a government health facility.
Back there, he paid attention and resolved staffing and personnel issues.

To ensure the implementation of the 2017-2018 Operational Plans of the EVHRDC, the ExeCom along with the Committee Chairs initiate a general assembly among the member institutions to collectively evaluate the extent of implementation of its planned programs and initiatives as stipulated in the said operational plans. A Mid-Year Assessment and Planning activity has been conducted on July 26, 2017 in Hotel Alejandro, Tacloban City.

After a series of deliberations with the team and consultations with the experts, the consortium has finally completed its manual of operations (MOO) which has been officially launched on July 26, 2018 in Hotel Alejandro, Tacloban City during the conduct of the Mid-Year Assessment and Planning.
The MOO embeds the implementing procedures and other pertinent provisions and mechanisms in the conduct of the various operations of the consortium. Its primary purpose is to develop a common point of reference and stabilize the operations of the consortium in spite of the changing organizational structure thus enhancing smooth and closer coordination among the member institutions.
