The Department of Education Region 8 will launch the School Based Fee School-BasedSBFP) this SY 2022-2023 starting August. It will serve 190,831 beneficiaries all over the region . The program will cater to all incoming Kindergarten and Grade I to 6 students who are “wasted” and “severely wasted” based on the recent SBFP report.
According to Cesvi Foundation, wasted children refers to those with weight that are too low for their height, and their bodies waste away. Wasted young children have high risk of dying.

Region VIII will host the Philippine National Research System (PNHRS) Week Celebration in August 2023. In order to discuss the different preparations needed in hosting this event next year, the Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium conducted a meeting on July 07, 2022 via Zoom.
The group discussed the possibility of a hybrid format next year, with both face-to-face and virtual sessions. The group also discussed the different sessions and contests to be offered. Also presented were initial plans on the different committees to be created for the event. Lastly, the group agreed that next year’s celebration should also highlight the different eco tourist spots in Region VIII to entice local tourists to visit the region.

The Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (EVHRDC), spearheaded by the chair of the Capacity Building Committee (CBC), Dr. Virgildo E. Sabalo, conducted a two-day Data Analytics and Statistics Training last July 18-19, 2022 via Zoom and Facebook live. A total of 150 researchers from various member institutions joined the activity.
Mr. Norberto Milla served as the resource speaker of the activity. His talk focused on the various statistical software such as JASP, R and RStudio on how to use it while researchers are conducting their scientific research. Moreover, it can also help them in providing speedy and accurate results.

Tacloban City- In its efforts to disseminate programs, activities, and projects (PAPs) of the Eastern Visayas Research and Development Consortium (EVHRDC) and its member institutions, the consortium, through the Research and Utilization Committee (RUC) and Capability Building Committee (CBC), conducted a one-day training workshop on health news and features on July 20, 2020.
RUC members, representatives of DOST units, and consortium members participated in the virtual activity, where they were welcomed by the Vice Chair of the Executive Committee and the DOST Regional Director Engr. Ernesto Granada

To promote cooperation and integration of all health research efforts and stakeholders in the region, the Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (EVHRDC) adopts the Philippine National Health Research System’s (PNHRS) Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) System. The PNHRS M&E System seeks to ensure that health researches carried out in the country contribute significantly to evidence-based policies and actions. An orientation on the said monitoring tool took place during the Special Executive Committee (ExeCom) Meeting on 02 June 2022 via zoom.
